After Mufasa joined our family we found a Chihuahua mailing list and realized 2 things:
(1) Mufasa would probably benefit from a playmate!
(2) There are too many Chihuahua's (and other breeds) that are just

waiting to be rescued and loved in a forever home!

So we decided that a smoothcoat male Chihuahua was what we were looking to adopt. So how did we end up with a Josie, a Longcoat female?  HA HA, you will see...if you start looking for a rescue baby. I didn't even see her photo, but read about her on a rescue website.  Something told me that this baby was meant for our family.

So I called her foster mom and we made an appointment to meet with Josie. Can you believe this sweet little fluff ball had been a stray on the streets of San Jose California? She was lucky K-9 Haven saved her from a terrible fate at the pound! She looked terrible and I really wasn't sure, but she and my husband fell hopelessly in love and all reason was lost !

So that is how Josie became our second baby. She is all girl and very much the boss over Mufasa. I can't believe that was 4 years ago!!    Josie has turned out to be the perfect doggie for our family. It did take awhile for her to warm up to the rest of us. It took her about a year before she really trusted me (she has issues with women). Now she will jump in my lap just to get a hug, but she is still a number one Daddy's girl!  She and the cat pretty much just ignore each other. Big tried to get her to play and lately she had been starting up play on her own too!  Best of all she will sleep with one of the boys if it is really cold!

If you are thinking of adding a new family member, please consider he/she may already be waiting for you in a shelter or foster home.
